I fell over today...I had been the cinema to see 'Where The Truth Lies' at the Nova - and was crossing the road to walk back to Brunswick St and all of a sudden I was on the ground, and a guys hand appeared to help me up.

I think it was jsut because my shoes didn't grip very well on the wet road. But I really slammed into the pavement and although my knee is rather cut up - it's my ankle which intially I thought was just a bit sore - by the time I got to Brunswick St I had a nice limp.

My ankle now sits on a bag of frozen vegetables...I just think it is a bad sprain I sort of flipped foward on it rather than twisting it. So far it does not look to swollen, so I think things should be okay - I'll stick with the ice, and might add some anti-inflammatory later on.

If it is still being a pain on Tuesday I'll head in early before work and go and get it seen to.

My I-shuffle also hit the pavement with all the force of hell, and I fear is no longer alive...but for all of the times I have dropped it I think it was a miracle it was still going before todays incident.

I am making mushroom risotto for dinner tonight - possibly with added defrosted vegetables.

Well I think I am settling in at my new job, I have not broken anything yet and I have had an assessment each day to see how I am going and that went fine too. It is a temp position for four weeks and then hopefully permanent.

Water is something I have to work on, I am not drinking enough at all at the moment I think by the start of next week I'll start to up it slowly so I am not going every thirty minutes.

Exercise also needs to be added, I don't think there is any use (at the moment) joining a gym if I just go for a walk every morning for about 40 minutes that should be fine.

It is just setting my body to the new routine and once that get sorted everything else should flow.

I still have not signed up for the Mothers Day Run - I'll see how I feel Saturday, but if I have some spare funds (and I presume I can sign up on the day) I will be there. My first full pay cheque is next Wednesday (though I got paid for Friday today!)

I'll be back to catch up tonight...I have been reading!

I forgot how good it is to actually go to bed tired, and fall asleep easily!

And wake up feeling, refreshed.

No need to exercise this weekend really seeing as I have spent a considerable amount of it (today) lifting, moving, crouching down and swinging about small trees. Although I have been feeling a bit blah of late about my fitness - it must have improved a considerable amount as I was on my feet doing heavy work all day...and never had to stop for a rest (not that I had time!).

Yesterday I got back into the swing of things by walking down to the supermarket and back (80mins all up) to stock up on some dry goods for the cupboards, and some milk and vaalia. I had intended to get to the market this morning and stock up on fruit, veg and meat. But I slept right through until about 10am which was strange because I was sound asleep by around 8.15pm last night...yes the old person that I am.

Work will be busy this week because of the long Easter weekend coming up, so things have to go in the post tomorrow. And if work arrives on Tuesday it has to go back out on Wednesday! I am looking forward to Easter - I have decided not to go home and just stay here and work on my paper that I am presenting freakishly soon, and running over some freelance ideas I have. As well as making copious amount of soup etc to stock my freezer with.

Game on!

Daylight savings has ended, and that extra hour of sleep has been a blessing. I think my body clock has finally clicked back into reality. With the end of daylight saving, enters the beginnings of the cold winter ahead. This morning (because my contract work is from home - until I find a new job) I hunted down some slippers, and found a cardigan at the back of the wardrobe. My wheat bag has also been planted under the covers and will follow me around in the evenings until it gets too cold, and then the heater is getting turned on. I always try and leave turning the heater on until the last minute because once it comes on for winter I don't turn it off much :)

I am feeling very motivated at the moment. After I finish work this afternoon I am working on charts and things to stick on my fridge, as well as a meal plan for the next few weeks. I am also making vegetable lasagne tonight and cutting it up and freezing portions. I make it with pasta sauce, vegetables, herbs, and of course the pasta sheets. But no cheese. Later this week I am going to bake up some pumpkin and vegetable soup and freeze that as well. The freezer will be well stocked with meals I can defrost when I can't be bothered cooking, or when the money gets low!

It's also blah time - the only time of the month when I drink heaps of water, my thinking is that it will help with the weight that usually piles on around that time due to fluid...plus I feel better for it. Now I just have to transfer this to all the other days of the month.

On the whole I am not a one eyed football supporter - for example if the other team happen to score a great goal or something I will clap. Unless they are Carlton or Collingwood supporters - another exception to this would be the ticket people who have fun placing me in the middle of a pack of Collingwood supporters. But they work out soon enough I won't yell at them and leave me alone.

That said, I am going to make a determined effort to attend as many Essendon matches as I can. I moved here from NSW 10 years ago...it took about 2 years for me to switch, now I love it!

I am also shit at explaining any of the rules... poor Cath!

I ate an early dinner so I won't be tempted by the warm pie at half time...but I may buy a beer or a coffee depending on how cold or pumped we are by then. And I am taking a pear :) or maybe two! or buy a snack...hmmm.

foood.

Also most of clothes are too big...as in three shirts I put on to wear tonight are too big..and the one I have on now, well it makes me look huge!

Bah!

To be or not to be...

The interview went well today, well i think so :) Half of it was behaviour based (open ended questions) and the other half was job specific. I am glad I did heaps of research before hand because when i had the phone call for this interview I was told it was behaviour based only, so when it came down to the nitty gritty at least I could handle it....or so I hope.

They are wanting to fill the position rather quickly so I will hear either way in the next few days. It looks like an amazing place to work, very new, and close to the CBD (North Melbourne), so here is hoping. If not, well it is some practice isn't it!

I was very sneaky today and went and got my hair cut...6 kilos too early! I had blonde highlights put in my hair ages ago so now after having not had it cut for so long I had a nice brown head of hair with an inch or two of this very light brown and the bottom. It didn't look very nice, plus I couldn't keep pulling my hair back to job interviews...it makes me look to severe. So I went to GI Joes in Brunswick St, and paid $22 for my hair cut! The hairdresser was great, I only waited about 20 minutes (I wasn't in a hurry). I went to another one of these sorts of places a few years back not GI Joes though...and they hacked half my hair off. But my hair needed a cut badly, so the woman cut the blonde of and reshaped it...I'll be going back for my cuts there again. I'll get my hair colour done somewhere else though (and that's if I ever get it coloured) I was very happy with the result. And it made me feel like a woman again, rather than some kind of rodent!

Remember weeks ago I tried out new hair products I spent a fortune on and I said I would get back to you all about. Well - I have had dandruff for years and have been very happy with H&S infact I swear by it if you have dandruff. But after I got my scalp analysis I found that it was just that my hair and scalp was really dry. So I have been using Kerastase products for a month or so...the shampoo, conditioner, and I use a mousse - what a difference! I have silky, healthy looking, shiny hair...and now without the rodent ends!

Now I just have to come up with another 20kg reward....hmmm.

And today was the first time I can remember the hairdresser not complaining about the health of my hair!

....

I have been feeling a bit like a slug of late, I think it is due to the lack of fruit and veg - I just don't feel like cooking. I am going to start making soups again just so I can get my vegie intake, and might start having fruit for breakfast just to make sure I get some fruit in my system.

Oh, and maybe some water too!

my weekend

Seeing as I am never going to be interviewed for this segment...I'll just interview myself!

What does the weekend mean to you?
the weekend newspapers, movies, and window shopping.

What's the first thing you reach for on a Saturday morning?
my alarm clock, it gets a fair workout on the weekend as I attempt to draw out my sleep ins for as long as possible.

Whom do you spend most of your time with?
Myself, I generally see my friends during the week (this was much easier when we were all studying). So I just wander about doing things by myself.

What do you do to relax ?
When I have the money Saturday and sometimes Sunday afternoons are spent in a darkened cinema, and I usually go for a long stroll somewhere just for some sunlight.

What's the most important part of the weekend?
Friday nights, when the weekend is all there is in front of you and the possibilities are endless.

What are you reading at the moment?
I just finished 'The Year of Magical Thinking' by Joan Didion. I have not picked out my next book yet.

Where do you shop?
Anywhere, except shopping centres...I hate them, unless they are more open like Melbourne Central. But Chaddy etc I despise. I like the character of the Melbourne laneways.

What can annoy you most at the weekend?
Busy cinemas. It is rare that I would go to a blockbuster cinema on the weekend. I'll usually go to the Kino or the Nova.

What is your biggest indulgence?
When I have the money I'll buy two or three books in one outing rather than one or none.

How do you feel on Sunday night?
Recharged, hopefully. But then I don't have a normal full time job. So I can spread my work out. That will soon change though.

Walkabout

I was watching the news update of the Queen in Sydney earlier today and thought Now that is someone I would like to see I am not a monarchist or a republican, I swing about from time to time. To be frank, it does not really bother me.

I ended up going out to have my roll for lunch, and as I was reading the Herald Scum I saw that Her Maj would be at the Royal Exhibition Building on Wednesday for the PMs' luncheon. Maybe it is because I have written about 'important?' historical figures before, it would be nice to see and maybe talk to one that was alive and kicking. I always write about the dead ones! So I have decided to go and see Her Maj on Wednesday afternoon, I am happy to report that she will be doing a walkabout after the luncheon...which from what I gather will have a few ex PMs in attendance.

I'm sort of excited by the prospect of actually seeing the Queen, I am not going to bring flowers or anything (maybe a card) because I am sure the woman gets enough flowers...I wonder where they all go.

Still if I don't end up catching a glimpse, it will be something to 'do' ... plus I can try and also see some PMs that are still about.

Now I just have to get some film for my camera...or borrow a digi!

I'm also about to hop on to the Commonwealth Games website to see if I can get a ticket to some obscure yet entertaining sport...maybe weightlifting. I am going to watch the Marathon on Sunday as they lap the gardens a few times...won't cost a cent, and it will be near the end of the course...so they will be working hard.

EDIT: Just spoke to Nan about the Queen on the phone...she saw her in 1953 in Sale...when she was still Princess Elizabeth. She also met Princess Diana and Prince Charles in the early 1980s. Nan can also remember when the King died...they had the day off Nan said 'we hand a holiday' - i laughed and said 'maybe it was a day of mourning!'. So if I do speak to the Queen (because the chances of that are so high!) I have to tell her than Nan says hi!

    <lj:music>Love Changes - Stevie Nicks</lj:music>

According to my friend Jess - I have a mouse in my kitchen! I thought having a cat next door would help any mouse problems. I'll have to go and get a Mouse Trap from mitre 10 later today ... and find someone to pick it up when the mouse meets it fate...any other suggestions! Something that does not involve a dead rodent.

I have been pretty busy the past few days with study, sorting and looking for articles I THOUGHT I had - but don't! I had an appt with one of my specialists on Monday - not a review, just a normal appt. A couple changes are afoot - but nothing major. But as he put it. It would take a lot of pressure off you if you found someone special and had a family. Spot on my dear friend...it would take a huge weight of my shoulders. At this point I may have burst into tears ... next appt is early May. Bah stupid tests.

I think I am meeting the waiter tomorrow afternoon for drinks...of course it seems we can only communicate through text message...pick up the telephone - good lord no!

I only say what you want to hear
When there is a conflict
I stay clear
When he was loving I was in tears
He knows my fears

When love changes in the flash of an eye
It leaves people burnin' by the side of the road
You stand there you got nothing to hold
For the first time you are alone
For the first time you are alone

That don't mend the sorrow
Or reinvent the pleasure

And big hugs to the very nice person - Kath! who bought me a virtual box of chocolates to eat...zero points....NOICE!
